On 24 August 2026, IOMed Secretary-General Prof. Teresa Cheng visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and met with Director-General of the Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs Mr. Benjamin Sukanjanajtee.
Prof. Cheng updated Mr. Sukanjanajtee on IOMed’s latest development, including its growing membership and capacity building initiatives. She expressed great appreciation for Thailand’s constructive contribution to the establishment of IOMed as one of the 19 initiating countries, and expressed hope to see Thailand become a member state of the Organization at an early date.
Highlighting that conciliatory means of settlement is deeply valued by Thailand, Mr. Sukanjanajtee recognized IOMed’s objective to bring mediation back to the forefront of international dispute resolution.
The two sides agreed to maintain close communication and explore potential collaboration.
The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
