On 27 August 2026, IOMed Secretary-General Prof. Teresa Cheng visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia and met with Director of Social and Cultural Law and Treaties Ms. Tita Yowana Alwis.
Prof. Cheng briefed Ms. Tita Yowana Alwis on the latest development of IOMed and expressed great appreciation for Indonesia’s important contribution to the establishment of IOMed as one of the 19 initiating countries. Recalling the signing of the IOMed Convention by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Arif Havas Oegroseno on 30 May 2025, Prof. Cheng expressed hope for Indonesia to ratify the IOMed Convention at an early date.
Recognizing the achievements of IOMed since its inauguration, Ms. Tita Yowana Alwis updated Prof. Cheng on the progress in advancing Indonesia’s ratification of the Convention.
The two sides agreed on the need for mainstreaming of the culture of mediation, and agreed to explore collaboration in mediation capacity building for businesses and the youth.
