On 28 August 2026, during her visit to Jakarta, IOMed Secretary-General Prof. Teresa Cheng met respectively with Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Lippo Group Dr. Mochtar Riady and Deputy CEO of the Asian Pulp & Paper (APP) Group Mr. Hendra J. Kosasih, and had exchanges with academics of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH).
In her exchanges with the business leaders, Prof. Cheng elaborated on the benefits mediation offers to businesses by providing a flexible and efficient option for dispute resolution where the parties control the process and outcome of mediation, and can preserve important relationships. She highlighted the relevance of IOMed to Indonesian businesses, with Indonesia being one of the initiating countries and a Signatory State of IOMed, and encouraged them to incorporate IOMed into their dispute resolution mindset.

In Prof. Cheng’s exchanges with Faculty of Law of Universitas Pelita Harapan, the two sides discussed the mediation practices in Indonesia and other parts of the world, and shared the view that it is important to strengthen capacity building and cultivate talents that can adapt to the evolving trends in international dispute resolution.
