Prof. Teresa Cheng Speaks at the Belt and Road Summit 2026

On 10 September 2026, Secretary-General Prof. Teresa Cheng attended the Belt and Road Summit 2026 co-organized by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and delivered a speech at the Special Address Session of the Summit.

Recognizing the presence of senior leaders from IOMed member states at the Summit, Prof. Cheng highlighted in her speech the convergence between IOMed’s objective of promoting mediation for peace and prosperity and the advancement of Belt and Road cooperation.

She stressed that IOMed can contribute to the realization of policy, infrastructure, trade, finance and people-to-people connectivities under the Belt and Road Initiative as a lubricant for cooperation, and encouraged governments and entrepreneurs to insert into their policies and business strategies.

Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, which is a Contracting State of IOMed, also delivered speech at the Special Address Session.
