On 1 October 2026, IOMed and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Geneva. Prof. Teresa Cheng, Secretary-General of IOMed, signed the MoU at the UNITAR headquarters, following the prior signature of Ms. Michelle Gyles-McDonough, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of UNITAR.
As the first intergovernmental organization dedicated to resolving international disputes through mediation, continuously strengthening capacity building for mediators as well as raising mediation-awareness and preparedness of potential disputants are important pillars of IOMed’s work. The partnership with UNITAR, which has extensive experience in training international civil servants and diplomats across the globe, will provide strong support for the realization of these goals.
