Secretary-General Prof. Teresa Cheng Meets with CCPIT Chairman Ren Hongbin

On 13 February 2026, IOMed Secretary-General Prof. Teresa CHENG Yeuk-wah SC met with Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Mr. REN Hongbin in Beijing, China. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on issues of mutual interest in the field of mediation.
 
Prof. Cheng shared with Mr. Ren the development achieved by IOMed since its inauguration. She noted that as the world’s first treaty-based intergovernmental organization dedicated to mediation, IOMed aims to fill the institutional gap in international dispute resolution, and provide a viable, efficacious and predictable alternative, including for the international business community.
 
Prof. Cheng said that IOMed and CCPIT can form synergy in building a mediation ecosystem and explore collaboration in areas such as capacity building. IOMed and the dispute prevention and resolution bodies set up under the auspices or at the initiative of CCPIT can join hands in serving various sectors of the business community, both locally and internationally.
 
Mr. Ren applauded the establishment of IOMed and expressed support for its mission. He introduced CCPIT’s rich experience and practices in providing alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services, and expressed readiness to work with IOMed in promoting greater use of mediation in dispute resolution.
