The International Organization for Mediation (IOMed) is the first inter-governmental organization exclusively dedicated to international mediation, and is headquartered in the Hong Kong SAR of the People’s Republic of China. Since its inauguration on October 20, 2025, IOMed has grown to include 40 Signatory States and 12 Contracting States. IOMed provides mediation service for the settlement of: (1) disputes between States; (2) disputes between a State and a national of another State; (3) international commercial disputes between private parties. Our mission is to advance the peaceful and friendly settlement of international disputes through mediation, thereby fostering harmonious global relations.
We are now pleased to announce the launch of our internship program, inviting talented and motivated young individuals to contribute to our mission.

Expected Duration: 3 months with a possibility for extension up to a maximum of six (6) months based on performance and organizational needs

Applications are sought for eight internship positions: two in the Secretary-General’s Office (SGO), two in the Legal and Case Administration Department (LCA), two in the Public Relations Department (PR) and two in the Capacity Building Department (CB).
The core functions of the respective departments are generally as follows:
- SGO oversees the daily operation of IOMed, supporting the Secretary-General and managing administrative, financial, and strategic planning matters etc.
- LCA administers the mediation cases and conducts legal researches.
- PR deals with publicity and promotion of IOMed, including matters related to media, business development and organization of events.
- CB manages and implements capacity building strategies and related activities.
SGO is seeking two interns under direct supervision of the Secretary-General. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in legal research, drafting of papers and speeches and may accompany the Secretary-General to visits and events.
LCA is seeking two legal interns who will participate in the administration of mediation proceedings and the development of its legal and institutional framework, including drafting of case-related documentation, research and preparation of mediation-related instruments, liaise with mediators and Signatory States etc.
PR is seeking two interns who will liaise with the media, respond to inquiries, provide support for interviews and public events, participate in the management of the IOMed website etc.
CB is seeking two interns who will participate in the drafting of capacity building plan, organize capacity building events and liaise with the Signatory States etc.
The ideal candidate is expected to possess:
(a) Education:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (Master’s degree or equivalent, or higher) in communications, journalism, international relations, law, or other relevant subjects; or
- Be enrolled in and have completed part of the program, save for the final academic year, of an undergraduate degree program in communications, journalism, international relations, law, or other relevant subjects;
(b) Languages: Excellent written and spoken command of English. Knowledge of additional languages, such as Arabic, French, Russian, and Spanish, is a desirable asset.
These internship positions are available from mid-April 2026 on a continuing and rolling basis.
Financial and Administrative Arrangements
Financial Support: Interns are not financially remunerated by IOMed.
Work Mode: The internship must be conducted in person fulltime in Hong Kong SAR, P. R. China. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned.
Travel and Visa: All costs and arrangements for travel, visas and accommodation are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution. Interns must obtain valid Hong Kong SAR visa or permit before commencing the internship.
Medical Insurance: Interns must provide proof of valid comprehensive health insurance coverage for the entire duration of the internship in Hong Kong SAR.
Subsequent Employment: There is no expectation of further employment with IOMed upon completion of the internship. Interns may not apply for or be appointed to any staff position during their internship and for a period of six months immediately following the completion of the internship at IOMed.

- Motivation/Cover Letter: Applicants are suggested to include a Motivation/Cover Letter detailing their degree, graduation date, IT skills, areas of interest, and reasons for applying, maximum one page.
- Proof of Enrollment or Graduation: An official letter from your university confirming your current enrollment, or a copy of your diploma if you have graduated within the last year.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
